Scoutmaster's Message

Troop 66 is off to another great year! I just wanted to share a few things with you that we have in the works this fall & winter.

Bob Shea Memorial Pavilion

As you all know, the Troop 66 committee has been busy working on a new 20' x 40' pavilion in our Forstburg Scout Reservation campsite Onondaga. With your continued support, the work crew has finished putting up the frame and rafters of the structure and the final roof will be placed in the spring. I would like to personally thank the adults, listed below, for their hard work and dedication in the construction.

Our crew (alphabetical order):

Dan A.

Damian B.

George C.

Nick D.Sr.

Nick D. Jr.

Fred G.

Ken K.

Joseph L.

Scott M.

Don M.

Brian M.

Rich P.

Mike S.

This pavilion, which will be ready for summer camp this year, is a perfect meeting place for our scouts and will be used for years to come. This shelter is also an important part of the FSR safety plan and will be used as a hard shelter in case of storms, similar to the ones we experienced this summer.

This shelter is still not complete and your financial support is still needed. To make a donation, please click here

We all know that Bob will be watching over us while we write a new chapter for the troop with this new pavilion.

Community Service

We all know that community service is important, not only as scouts but as citizens of our communities. With this in mind, Troop 66 has a service project scheduled for this Saturday, November 9th from 9 to 11 am behind the Chevy's Dry Cleaners on Main Street, Matawan. Similar to our last project in this area, we will be going into the woods near the lake to pick up trash before it enters our waterways.

November Camping

Sign-up is now available for the November 2019 camping trip to be held from November 15-17, 2019 at Citta Scout Reservation. This camping trip will include our annual Fryfest and will include scouts skills practice and our annual ILST training for the patrol leaders and ASPL's. As an added bonus, we will have 10+ Cub Scouts from Pack 66 visiting us in hopes of joining us after their crossover in December. Attendance is highly encouraged!

December Family Trip

Every year we try and have a trip which is fun for the entire family. This year the Patrol Leader's Council (PLC) and the Troop committee have selected a visit to the Statue of Liberty on December 14, 2019.

Annual Dues

The annual dues and rechartering letter has been set out and the deadline is this November 27th in preparation of our annual rechartering process with the National Boy Scouts of America. As you heard at the Fall Court of Honor, the cost for this year has gone up because of a new Monmouth Council Program Fee; which will bring the Troop 66 registration fee up to $130. To help make this easier for families, we are now offering online payments with a credit card.

Please click here to make your online payment.

We are also asking you to fill out the re-chartering application and Code of Conduct so we keep our records up to date.
