Pierce G BSA Troop 66 October 16, 2017 September 2017 Camping at TMR Canoeing 10 Miles Troop 66 went on a camping trip from September 15 to 17 at Ten Mile River scout camp. It took almost 3 hours to drive to TMR scout camp. It was a traditional tent camping trip, however the meals were cooked on propane. The main event of the camping trip was canoeing down the Delaware river. The troop had to drive to a stop where a bus came to pick up the troop. After getting on the bus, the troop got to the starting point on the Delaware river. Older scouts were paired up with the younger scouts in 2 person canoes. The entire troop was able to stay together down the course of the river. There were also some bald eagles flying by overhead. After about 5 hours, the canoeing portion of the trip had to come to a close. The troop went back to the camping site, where the scouts did rank advancement. After that, there was a troop campfire. Patrols unfortunately did not make up any original skits. Younger scouts went to bed after the campfire. After a regular PLC, everyone went to bed. The troop got up the next morning and left much earlier than expected. |
